If I have placed items in my basket will the products be reserve for me?

When you have added items to your basket they will not be reserved for you. The only time stock will be allocated to you is when you have completed your purchase from the checkout. This could mean occasionally stock levels can be different from the time of adding them to your basket and completing your purchase.

If I leave items in my basket, and then leave the site will I lose the items in my basket?

If you have decided to leave the maplin.co.uk site after adding items to your basket, and come back at a later time the products will remain there until either you empty your basket or if you decide to proceed to the checkout.

My invoice address is incorrect how do I change this?

When you are in the checkout there is an option to change your invoice. Please remember that your invoice address is the address where you card is registered to.

Underneath the Delivery address option there is a button that reads 'Change invoice address' if you click on this button, your browser will open a new window where you can edit your address. Once you have amended your details click on the 'Update My Profile' button. The window will then close itself and the checkout page will refresh itself to show your updated profile.

My contact details are incorrect how do I change them?

When you are in the checkout there is an option to change your contact details. To the right of the Delivery address there is a button that reads 'Change Contact Details' if you click on this button, your browser will open a new window where you can edit your details.

Once you have amended your details click on the 'Update My Profile' button. The window will then close itself and the checkout page will refresh itself to show your updated profile.

How do I change my delivery address?

If you would like your order dispatching to a different address to your invoice address you can do this by clicking on the 'Change Delivery Address' button to the left of your page.

This will then open a new window where you can change your details, enter the address where you would like the parcel(s) to go to then click on the 'Update My Profile' button.

This will then refresh the checkout page and show your new details.

I am VAT exempt but I am currently being charged for it, how do I change this?

Usually there will be two reasons why you are being changed VAT. The first is for people who live in the Channel Islands who may have their country registered as the UK or Ireland. Or if you are registered as a business who are exempt, but have not received your certificate.

VAT Free Countries

If you are living in either the Channel Islands or Guernsey and you have put your registered country as the UK, you will need to change this to either Channel Islands or Guernsey. For help on how to do this click here.

VAT Free Business

If you are working for a VAT free registered company Maplin Electronics will need to receive a copy of your certificate before you are able to order VAT free. Once it has been received our customer services department can amend your account so any future order with us will be exempt from VAT. I have a business account with Maplin, how do I purchase products with it?

When you proceed to the checkout you will notice there is an allocated place to put in your account number under the credit card details.

To order with your account you will need to enter your account number in the 'Account Number', then your companies purchase order number in the 'Customer Ref.:' Once you have done this you can conform your order.

I have a voucher I would like to use against my order, how do I do this?

Before you proceed to the checkout you will need to make a note of the voucher in which you would like to redeem, against your order. If you are already subscribed to the Maplin newsletter you will not need to do this.

To register your online voucher, you will need to scroll down to the checkout page until you reach the 'Voucher Redemption' part of the checkout.

Enter your voucher code putting 4 digits in each box, then click on the 'Add to Order' button. You page will then refresh automatically and your voucher amount will have been deducted from the order total.

For customers already subscribed to the newsletter, there is a scroll bar under the redemption box, click on the voucher you would like to use and then press 'Add to Order'.

If this message is displayed whilst placing your order, it means that the account you have logged on with is not linked to your business account. Before you can purchase products on your account from maplin.co.uk you will need to have your customer number which is registered under your account set up for internet shopping. Once you are happy with your order scroll down to the bottom of the checkout page, you will find here a green button saying 'Complete Purchase' click on this button and this will submit your order.

How do I know if my order has been received?

When you have clicked on the Complete Purchase there are a number of ways to check if your order has been received.

Confirmation Page

Once you have clicked on the 'Complete Purchase' button on the checkout your browser will then direct you to a conformation page (see example below).

Email

Once your order has been confirmed you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you registered as your 'Contact Details'. If you would like to see an example of this email please click here

Order History

Once an Order has been receive it will appear in your order history. For more information on how to access you order history click here

I am attempting to pay via Paypal however there is no 'Complete Purchase' button

The absense of a 'Complete Purchase' button would indicate the you do not have a 'confirmed' Paypal address. For your security Maplin requires customers to go through the Paypal verification process before making a purchase.

Maplin prides itself on offering our online customers a secure environment within which to shop. As such, we look for confirmed addresses from PayPal customers to ensure they are the genuine account holder.

Address confirmation simply involves confirmation that your address is genuine and helps combat fraud. Obviously, if you already possess a confirmed address you can shop immediately at Maplin.

What is a Confirmed Address?

A Confirmed Address will have been established by PayPal as belonging to the PayPal account holder.

A confirmed address is found by PayPal to be safer - for example, a credit card billing address will be confirmed because it is a safer address than most other addresses.

How do I verify my address?

It’s very straightforward - add a credit card to your PayPal account. By adding a credit card to your account, PayPal can attempt to confirm your address with your credit card company.

If the credit card company is not able to confirm your address, you may be asked to complete the Expanded Use Enrolment process to activate your credit card. Your address can be confirmed after that process is complete.

I am given an error code when attempting to pay

On attempting to complete your purchase you may be presented with one of a number of error codes.

Error 27        Invoice address line 1 does not match card registered address

The first line of the address you have entered does not match the information that has been supplied by your card issuer.

Error 28        Invoice address postcode does not match card registered address

The postcode you have entered does not match the information that has been supplied by your cad issuer.

Error 29        CVV2 Security Code

The number you have entered does not match the reference supplied by your card issuer.

Error 50/4     Invalid Card No.

The card account number you have entered is invalid. Please check and carefully enter the number that is displayed across the middle of the card you are using.

Error 50/5     Invalid Expiry Date

The expiry date you have entered is incorrect. Please check and carefully enter the number that is displayed on the card you are using.

Error 50/6     Card Type

The card type you have selected is incorrect. Please check your cards correct type and reselect using the drop down menu.

Please check and carefully re-enter the details.
